Hi, I'm Fiona
My earliest memory of wanting to “help” goes back to before I started preschool, when my favourite teddy, “Big Ted,” was sad and, to be honest, quite frustrated with his friend, “Little Ted.” I helped them both talk about their feelings so they could finish the latest elaborate cubby house they were building. Thankfully, my therapeutic skills have improved since then, but my heart for helping others remains unchanged.

Hi, I'm Fiona
My path to counselling has been anything but traditional, yet it’s been deeply grounded in one constant: my desire to help others.
My earliest memory of wanting to “help” goes back to before I started preschool in Melbourne, Australia, when my favourite teddy, “Big Ted,” was sad and, to be honest, quite frustrated with his friend, “Little Ted.” I helped them both talk about their feelings so they could finish the latest elaborate cubby house they were building. Thankfully, my therapeutic skills have improved since then, but my heart for helping others remains unchanged.
I began my working life in hospitality and was studying international business when I answered a call for help in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Within ten days, I was off to Spain to care for four lovable dogs for a month or two while their owners attended meetings in Los Angeles. My month or two in Spain turned into an 8-year adventure with me working in New York City as an expatriate manager within the human resources department at Goldman Sachs. There, I supported individuals and families with the physical, social, and emotional aspects of relocating around the world.
I returned to Melbourne, Australia, ready to take on my next adventure and that I did: parenting my three uniquely individual kids (now young adults!).
After a conversation with another Mum from school (whom I continue to thank today – thank you, Chantal), I was introduced to the world of photo organising. I was intrigued to find that there was even an industry to help people organise their digital and printed photos, and that it blended my love for organisation with my love of photos. So, I started Photo Helper, my photo organising business, helping people create an organised photo collection to save generations of precious family photos. At this time, Chantal and I also wanted to support people keen to organise their photos, and we created the DIY Photo Organising Podcast. I’m proud to say we are the number 1 global podcast for Photo Organising, on all platforms.
Within my own business, I felt privileged to sit with people who had taken on the role of “memory keeper” in the family, holding generations of past photos. I quickly found myself adding a box of tissues to my list of items to bring when I visited individuals and families in their homes, to talk about their photos. This is when I decided to return to study, but this time to complete a Bachelor of Counselling. I wanted to be able to support my clients with the more difficult emotions, thoughts, and memories that surfaced.
Today, while I still love recording new podcast episodes, my focus is on counselling to help people find relief from challenging memories, thoughts, and emotions. I am passionate about helping you move forward to lift the burden of those inner experiences.
